Days #16 & 17

Yesterday got away from me before I could get a post in so I am combining two days. I am really liking the addition of Kombucha to my smoothies.
I would have to say that Heidi is thus far the most adventurous with combinations. Go Heidi!
What are the rest of you experimenting with? We would love to hear from you.

  1. Well, today was a sucess in getting my partner Erik to not only try a smoothie, but drink one for breakfast! (He usually will not eat anything for breakfast). I made him a sweeter smoothie, with a handfull of spinach greens, frozen wild blueberries-about a handfull, splash of vitamin c juice, splash of carrot juice, 2 scoops vanilla whey protein powder, and some of my first batch of home cultured kefir!!-woot woot.

He liked it! He really liked it...we'll see if he will make a healthy breakfast habit.

As for me, i'm having a smoothie i made yesterday. Spinach, zucchini, raspberries, protein powder, carrot and vitamin c juice, yogurt and water to consistency.
Another yummy treat. I will have it after my body sculpting class at the ymca.

i hope all of your blending is going well.

vrroom vroom...(that's supposed to be a blender sound-hee hee)

  2. Well, I have to admit, I think my cucumber smoothie tastes a little more like dip than a drink. But I'm not totally turned off... it does spur me to try other kinds of concoctions!

  3. I had to scurry out the door this morning, and brought my smoothie fixins' home from work yesterday, so grabbed my OJ/Just Barely Powder as I went out the door. Not technically a smoothie, it's super fast to prepare and I LOVE the taste combination.

And check this out, from greenbarley.com:

"GREEN FOODS ALERT! - Let's be clear, green superfoods such as green barley and wheat grass can no longer be categorized only within the domains of 'alternative health' and 'hippie foods'. Nutritional science has conclusively shown that leafy greens are the most important foods for avoiding disease and maintaining optimum health. The sad fact is that only a very small percentage of the population is consuming anywhere near adequate quantities of green foods. The solution is simple - DRINK YOUR GREENS!"

  5. We added a green smoothie to our regular dinner. It was more like a green shake because they were thick and delicious without any ice cream! "It's a family affair"
